Do you feel that you cannot achieve your goals because of the limitations that you put on yourself? You may have a limiting mindset due to having a difficult childhood, past failures or a sense of low self-esteem.
It all comes down to fear, no matter what reason you have. This could be a fear of failing again or of being rejected. You may just be afraid that you will not be good enough.
You can unlock your potential and overcome your limitations.
Accept your limitations. During your life, it is very likely that you will encounter someone smarter, stronger and even better looking than you are. As long as you make the effort, you will realize that you can still be very successful even if you are not the best at something.
- Don’t stop trying because of the fear of being inadequate at something. Trying and failing is okay. The only true failure is not trying at all. You get a little closer to success with each failure.
Work that little bit harder. By working harder, you can compensate for being a little less stellar at something.
- Thomas Edison is credited with saying that “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” Having a great idea for a new invention is more about doing the hard work rather than being brilliant. There are many people with unique ideas but only the person who puts in the extra work needed will be successful.
- Don’t let fear hold you back. Put in the work and hope for the best outcome.
Have goals. You have a destination in your mind before you even get into your car and start the engine. You can accomplish things in your life the same way. Know where you want to go and then you can figure out how you can get there.
- Your goals have to be realistic, but you also have to be willing to get out of your comfort zone. If your goals are impossible to achieve you can become discouraged. Your goals should challenge you but still be attainable.
- You won’t feel any sense of accomplishment if your goals are too easy. You will not feel any motivation to work towards them either.
Get a coach. Coaches deserve, and get a lot of credit from successful athletes. A coach can take a player to a level that they cannot get to by themselves. Not only athletes can benefit from having a coach. There are career and life coaches that can help you on your path to achieving success.
Understand your mindset limitations. Because we believe something to be impossible for us, that makes them seem that way.
- A great example to consider is the story of Roger Bannister. He was the first person to run a mile race in under 4 minutes. This was accomplished on may 6, 1954. Many believed that it was not humanly possible to accomplish this before that date.
- There were many very gifted athletes that came close but Roger Bannister was the first. Once he broke the barrier, it suddenly became possible in other people’s minds.
- After Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute mile, the next year 37 other runners also did this. The year after that there were 300 runners who could do it.
- These runners were physically capable before, but they now believed that it was possible.
Are there things in your life holding you back? It may be because of the limitations in your mind. Open your mind to overcome those limitations and unlock your potential.
